With data update of 3rd quarter of 2012 all current WinSteel and WinAlloy users receive renewed versions 7.1 of the software. The main differences in comparison with versions 7 of the software, are in the following:

• the search for a grade by composition and properties was greatly speeded up;
• you can conduct the search for a grade by composition and properties not only in the selected country but in the selected standard also;
• it is possible to save data on a grade and its equivalents in RTF file now, this will allow you to work with the saved information in popular text editors such as MS Word;
• when you save file with information on grade and its equivalents the directory of the saving is remembered, this allows you to save files with information on other grades quicker;
• you have possibility to get information on any grade in a separate window, this will allow you to compare different grades in the screen of your PC without printing.

Notice that WinSteel 7.1 and WinAlloy 7.1 are acceptable for users whose Annual Support or Subscription is not over for the time being. If your support is over you can prolong it online here.

WinSteel 7 Base. We continue to adjust information on grades included in European (EN), ASTM and ASME standards. Besides in comparison with the previous data update we added new grades by EN, JIS, ASTM, GB/T, AS, GOST and ISO standards. Information on grades included in several ASTM, EN, JIS, GB/T, GOST, ISO standards as well as commercial grades of Ovako company was updated.

In a result of the adjustment and addition of new grades the total number of grades included in the database is 186,890 now.

WinSteel 7 Prof. Besides new grades which were included in WinSteel 7 Base database we added information on properties of grades covered by ASTM and SAE (USA), EN (Europe) and JIS (Japan) standards.

WinAlloy. We continue to adjust information on grades included in European (EN) standard. Besides in comparison with the previous data update we added information on alloys included in two Chinese and one Russian standards. Information on grades included in several ASTM, JIS and GB/T standards was updated. In a result of the adjustment and addition of new grades the total number of grades included in the database is 55,487 now.

WinPlant. BLACK. Information on 3 new mills was added in the database. Now WinPlant. BLACK database contains information on products of 690 plants including 81 plants of non-CIS countries.

We added in the database information on new products developed by 7 plants. Information on 36 mills included in the database earlier and on their products and traders was updated.

WinPlant. RED. Information on 2 new companies was included in the database. Now WinPlant. RED database contains information on products of 367 plants including 17 plants of non-CIS countries.

We added in the database information on new products developed by 2 plants. Information on 28 plants included in the database earlier and on their products and traders has been updated.

Our partner Metal Bulletin resumed publication of its popular directories containing information on world steel and metal companies. The publication was interrupted last year because of launch of new online project Metal Bulletin Company Database.

But recently Metal Bulletin made a decision to resume publication of the directories as they were very popular among participants of steel and metal markets. So in 2012 there were issued new editions of the following directories:

•  Iron and Steel Works of the World Directory 2012;
•  Metal Producers of the World Directory 2012;
•  Stainless Steel Directory 2012;
•  International Scrap Directory 2012;

Besides in comparison with the previous data update we added information on Chinese alloys on base of Cu and Nb as well as on ferroalloys and solders. Information on alloys covered by several Russian and Chinese standards was updated.

In a result of the adjustment and addition of new grades the total number of grades included in the database is 52,895 now.

WinPlant. BLACK. Information on 6 new mills and managing companies was added in the database. Now WinPlant. BLACK database contains information on products of 681 plants including 81 plants of non-CIS countries.

We added in the database information on new products developed by 9 plants. Information on 46 mills included in the database earlier and on their products and traders was updated.

WinPlant. RED. Information on 4 new companies has been included in the database. Now WinPlant. RED database contains information on products of 359 plants including 17 plants of non-CIS countries.
